Superb Antique 19thC 1811 Sevres Porcelain Floral Cup & Saucer Porzellan Tasse

  
A really nice and very rare cup and saucer made by Sevres in 1811. Authentic pieces from this period are rather hard to find. The period just after the revolution fewer items were made for export but the support of Napoleon I and a wealthy upper class kept the factory going. The cup and saucer is a really nice example from this period. The set is superbly hand painted with flowers and their leaves (roses and morning glory in different stages of bloom) all along the rim with gold trim to either side and a nice gold design along the inside edge and center outside of the cup and well edge of the saucer.

The saucer well and bottom part of the cup have a neat greyish blue ground color to them that was applied unevenly almost if sprayed on to give it this neat effect. The flowers are of superb quality as is the rest of the set! The shape of the cup is really nice with a typical handle for the period. It would be hard to find a nicer example from this period. The cup and saucer are in great condition with a touch of wear to the gilding along the edge and handle.

Two small inclusions on the inside of the cup from when it was made. The saucer is 1.125 inches tall and 6 inches in diameter and the cup is 2.125 inches tall (plus the handle which adds about an inch) and 3.875 inches in diameter (without the handle). Both pieces are marked underneath with the red M. De Sevres mark with the year mark 1811 under it, some artist initials and the usual incised marks on would find on authentic pieces from this period.
