A Russian porcelain cup and saucer from the Alexander III Coronation Service, Imperial Porcelain Factory, St. The front of the cup and cavetto of the saucer decorated with the Imperial State Seal, a thrice crowned double-headed Imperial eagle, the shield of St. George encircled by the Chain of St. Andrew on its chest, the wings emblazoned with the arms of the major kingdoms and principates making up the empire, including (clockwise) Astrakhan, Siberia, Georgia, Finland, Kiev-Vladimir-Novgorod, Taurica, Poland, and Kazan, with scepter and orb clutched in its talons; the gilt handle of the cup molded as twisted vines, both cup and saucer with a fine gilt border. Both with green underglaze cypher mark of Nicholas II dated 1895.
Height of cup: 2 1/4 (5.7 cm). Diameter of saucer: 5 1/2 (14 cm). Overall very good condition, some small wear consistent with age and use.
