There are also the odd raised enamel dot jeweling. Above and below the floral pattern is a gilt and black painted Gothic type frieze.
The cup has a loop shaped handle and has been gilded down the back, a gilt lined top rim, a gilt line and dotted pattern inside the top rim and a wide gilt band to the foot. Both cup and saucer is marked to the base with a puce painted pattern number c over 9677 over a w or m and both with a red painted mark to the inside of the foot rims. Dates to circa 1870's to 1880's. The hand decorated pattern is in a William Morris / William de Morgan style and i believe that this was Brown Westhead & Moore trying to emulate Mintons Christopher Dresser cloisonne type wares.
SIZE : The cup measures 2 3/4 inches high and 3 inches in diameter. The saucer measures 5 3/16 inches in diameter. Weighs 231 g before packing. CONDITION : The cup handle has a small area of gilt ware to the back of the handle as in picture 6.
