A superb cup & saucer made by Limbach around 1780. Both pieces are hand painted with a nice scene in orange of two putto fishing as well as a few small flowers and an orange trim to the handle. The set is in great condition with just a little wear to the scene on the saucer and some black firing spots from the making.
They are marked underneath with a crossed L mark with a star meant off course to imitate the mark of their more famous competition. They also have an incised I underneath. The cup is 1.625 inches tall and 2.75 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1.125 inches tall and 4.75 inches in diameter.
