For sale is a nice cup and saucer made by Worcester in the 18th century. The set is hand painted in under glaze blue with a version of a strawflower pattern with a ribbed design to the paste. Very much like German pieces from the Thuringia area! I think they call it Immortelle pattern. Not a design you see too often and this is a small cup and saucer (possibly for a child) so it looks great and is easy to display.
Being hand painted is also a bonus as many of their wares were printed. I especially like the flower to the bottom inside of the cup! Both the cup and the saucer are in superb condition. No real issues but there is the occasional black firing spot normal to these early wares. The cup and saucer are each marked with a hand painted open blue crescent mark as shown.
A bit messy but you can recognize it with a bit of imagination : The cup is 1.375 inches tall and 2.5 inches in diameter. The saucer is 0.875 inches tall and 4.125 inches in diameter.
