Exquisite Antique Satsuma Cup & Saucer Meiji Period Japan

  

Beautiful Satsuma cup and saucer set featuring a scene with mountain in the background, houses in the mid zone and figures in the foreground. There is a lot of rich gold incorporated in the design. The cup and saucer have been carefully painted in great detail. There is some slight discolouration underneath in patches which may just be age-related (see photo of underside of saucer).

The cup has a diameter of 9 cm across and approx 4.5 cm high. There are 2 figures painted on the interior of the cup. There is a signature under the cup. The handle is heavily painted in gold.

If you like Satsuma this is a very good example of Satsuma ware.
