This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in Germany by the Helena Wolfsohn Dresden studio in the 1880s. It is a miniature trembleuse or tremblers cup and saucer. The saucer has a diameter of 3 3/4 inches and is one inch high.
The cup is 1 3/4 inches tall and has a diameter of 1 5/8 inches. The saucer has a raised gallery for the cup to fit into. It was made this way so that the cup would not slip off of the saucer. The set is hand decorated with tiny Watteau scenes in the Meissen style. Wreathes of flowers encircle the scenes. The rims are accented with lacy trim. The handle and gallery on the saucer have gold trim.
This is a rare and unusual object as a miniature and as a tremblers cup. To have them both in one is a special treasure.
