Antique Sevres Cobalt Blue & Gold Porcelain Soup Bowl Plate Porzellan Teller

  
A soup bowl / plate made by Sevres in 1886/87. I don't know why but you rarely ever come across plates in this style while the cups are a little easier to find. That cobalt blue ground with the gold combination is among the nicest in the porcelain world I think! The plate has that deep cobalt blue ground color along the rim with some fancy gold trim around the edge - some of which is raised, a simple gold trim along the edge of the well and a superb gold design in the center.

The dish is in perfect condition with just some minor age related wear but it displays perfectly. The plate is marked underneath with the oval green Sevres S.

86 mark for 1886 and the red Dore a Sevres mark for 1887. An artist initial along the edge and the usual incised marks as well. The bowl is 1.5 inches tall and 9.25 inches in diameter. 19th century 19thC French France.
