Antique Mintons Demitasse Cup & Saucer, French Enamel, Dresser
CONDITION: There is one slight craze line inside the bottom of the cup that does not show through to the other side. The cup rings like a bell. There are no other defects. This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in England by Mintons in 1881. It has as impressed date cipher indicating this year. The saucer has a diameter of 4 7/8 inches. The cup is 2 1/4 inches high with a diameter of 2 1/4 inches. The set is made of fine bone china. It is decorated with raised colored enamels in Asian style. These designs were created by the famous designer, Christopher Dresser. The turquoise enamel looks like cloisonné. You can feel all of the decorations with your fingers.
Tiny gold medallions dot the cream colored areas like snowflakes. Is delicate hand gilding around the edges.
This is a superb example of the English aesthetic style. The Post Office requires this.
