CONDITION: Excellent, no chips, cracks, crazing in the glaze, restoration, or wear. This porcelain coffee cup, saucer and dessert plate was produced in England by Mintons in 1882.
The impressed date cipher indicates this year. We believe that the design was created by Christopher Dresser. The plate is 7 5/8 inches in diameter. The saucer is 5 1/4 inches in diameter. Cup is 2 1/2 inches tall with a diameter of 2 3/4 inches. The set is made of fine, white bone china. There are bands of turquoise enamel on each piece. These bands are decorated with cloisonné style birds in tree branches bearing fruit. The decoration is raised so that you can feel it.
There are bands of embossed gilding and gold trim accenting the rims. This is an exceptional example of English Aesthetic style. The Post Office requires this.
