A cup and saucer made by Meissen in about 1750. Both are hand painted with a large scene after Tenier showing people in daily life. Nice gold trim to the rim. The saucer has a scene of four men loading or unloading a cart near a house and the cup a scene of two gentlemen with a little girl by some kind of wooden structure.

The cup also has two nice flowers painted on it as well as a small floral arrangement on the bottom inside. Nice gold trim on the handle. I love these old scenes because they show life as it was back then - a snapshot of history.

The set is in great condition with a tiny bit of wear - one spot in the scene of the saucer and one spot on the rim where the gold has flaked off on the saucer and a tiny bit of wear to the gold trim of the cup. Tiny chip on the foot ring resulting from a firing imperfection.

The cup is 1.75 inches tall and has a diameter of 3.25 inches. The saucer is 1.125 inches tall and 5.125 inches in diameter. Both are marked with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark underneath as shown. If you like my goodies have a look at my other auctions for a lot more top maker pieces.
