This porcelain chocolate cup and saucer was produced in Germany by the Richard Klemm Dresden studio in the 1890s. The saucer has a diameter of 5 1/4.
The cup is 3 1/4" high (without the handle) and has a diameter of 3". The cup has a hand painted portrait of Madam Pompadour. Note the way her hair is styled with flowers and the lovely features of her face. It is framed in heavy, raised gold. The green ground is overlaid with borders of raised gilding and decorated with garlands of pink roses.The handle is figural with a bird inside the scroll. There are shiny gold accents and trim.
