This porcelain chocolate cup and saucer was produced in Germany by the Richard Klemm Dresden studio in the 1890s. The saucer has a diameter of 5 1/4 and the cup is 3 1/4 high (without the handle) and has a diameter of 3.
The cup has a hand painted portrait of Vestal, a beautiful heroine of ancient Rome. Note the way her veil and folds in her garments are painted. It is framed in heavy, raised gold. The green ground is overlaid with borders of raised gilding and decorated with garlands of pink roses.
