Antique Dresden Cup & Saucer Helena Wolfsohn Augustus Rex Yellow & Puce Putti

  
Antique Helena Wolfsohn of Dresden, Cup & Saucer. The cup is twin handled and is of quatrefoil form. There is a striking pattern of puce coloured putti cherubs and flowers within panels framed by gilt scroll decorated borders. The handles are a of a double C scroll form with a thumb rest and pretty gold dot detailing to the tops.

The underside of both pieces are beautifully marked with the AR monogram (Augustus Rex) in underglaze blue and both cup and saucer are in excellent undamaged condition. This duo dated to the late 18th century - my last picture shows a screen shot of an exhibit in the British Museum that has the same yellow ground and puce cherub pattern, although there is a more intricate gilded pattern to the yellow ground. This picture is included to add substance to my date theory. Cup 8 x 6.5 x 6.3cm (including handles 10 x 6.5 x 6.3cm).
