Antique B & C Limoges Tea Cup & Saucer, Elaborate Raised Gold
This porcelain tea cup and saucer was produced in France by Bernardaud & Company Limoges between 1900 to 1930. The saucer has a diameter of 5 3/4 inches. The cup is 1 3/4 inches tall with a diameter of 4 inches. The interior of the cup and border of the saucer have orange panels over laid with a fine gilded pattern. Borders around these panels have ornate raised gilded designs and beaded gold on an iridescent cream colored ground. The outside of the cup has the same cream colored iridescent finish. The rims and handle are trimmed with gold. The design resembles silk fabric a sari might be made of. This style is seldom seen in Limoges porcelain. The Post Office requires this.
