A stunning tea cup and saucer made by Sevres in 1874 and gilded in 1876/77. The set has their famous deep cobalt blue ground color with a superb fancy gold trim around the rim, a superb gold medallion design in the center of the saucer, another gold trim around the bottom edge of the cup and some gold flowers to the inside of the cup. Superb handle shape with some gold trim to it as well. A really nice gold trim and nicer than many I have seen on these types of pieces.
I always love how they even color the underside rim of the saucer blue - just a nice touch! The set is in perfect condition which is always a plus. Both pieces are marked underneath - both having the green Sevres mark with S.74 mark with the cup having the red gilder's mark for 1876 and the saucer for 1877. It is completely normal for this maker to have different year marks on a set! Both also have the usual incised marks Sevres of this period has as well as the painter's marks. The saucer is 0.875 inches tall and 5.5 inches in diameter. The cup is just a touch over 2 inches tall and 3.625 inches in diameter.
