A rare lidded small cup and saucer made by Meissen during the late 19th or early 20th century. The set has their superb cobalt blue ground color and a nice gold trim design to the rim but the best part is the scene on each piece surrounded by fancy floral gilding with a bow on top. The saucer has a scene of a town with a church in the center near some steep mountains and the cup has an island scene to it as shown.
Nice detail as one would expect from the top maker. The lid is just cobalt blue with the same gold trim and a nice rose bud finial with its stems and leaves with some gold trim to it. This is one superb set and amazingly in great condition! The cup and saucer are perfect with just a touch of wear to the top edge of the cup but the lid has a little nibbling to the finial but it displays perfectly!
The cup and saucer are marked underneath with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark (first quality) as well as some impressed numbers. The cup is just under 1.5 inches tall and 2.25 inches in diameter. The saucer is 0.875 inches tall and 4.375 inches in diameter. And the lid adds about 1.25 inches to the height and tall and 2.375 inches in diameter.
