A cup & saucer made by Meissen in the 19th century. Both pieces are hand painted with the rich blue court dragon design called the Hofdrachen in Germany. These come in a variety of colors with the blue symbolizing power and strength. The set is hand painted with two blue and gold dragons with some red highlights as well as a fancy design between them.
The nicely shaped handle has a bit of gold trim to it as does the nicely shaped top edge. The set is in perfect condition which is always great.
Each is marked with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark underneath (first quality) as well as the usual impressed numbers one expects from pieces of this period as shown. The cup is just under 2.375 inches tall and 3.375 inches in diameter.
The saucer is 1.375 inches tall and 5.375 inches in diameter. If you like my goodies have a look at my other auctions for a lot more top maker pieces.
