An interesting cup and saucer made by Meissen in the late 19th or early 20th century. Both pieces are nicely hand painted with polychrome flowers - a larger arrangement as well as some smaller single flowers. The top edge has a basket weave pattern to it but the really interesting part is an armorial of a golden rampant lion with a crown above it. The armorial is really detailed as is the crown so maybe someone else that knows more about this sort of thing could help. I would certainly appreciate it!
Both are marked underneath with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark as well as the usual impressed numbers of the period and a black 35 as a painter's mark. Both the cup and the saucer are in perfect condition with a tiny flaw to the handle as shown but still deemed first quality so obviously not a big deal.
The saucer is 1 inch tall and has a diameter of 4.5 inches. The cup is 1.75 inches tall and has a diameter of 2.875 inches. 19thC 20thC German Germany Wappentasse royalty royal. If you like my goodies have a look at my other auctions for a lot more top maker pieces.
