Antique 19thC Doccia Ginori Gilded Scenic Porcelain Cup & Saucer Porzellan Tasse
A great cup and saucer set made by Doccia / Richard Ginori in the second half of the 19th century. One rarely sees these fully gilded sets! The cup has the typical raised relief decoration of mythical / biblical theme on it that is hand painted as well as the typical red corral handle. The saucer has the floral garlands held up by scroll designs typical for this mark but what is unusual is that the areas that would normally be white are in this case completely gilded which looks quite elegant. The set is in superb condition with just a touch of wear to the gilding which is to be expected.
The cup and saucer are both marked underneath with an under glaze blue N under a crown - quite faint but they are there. The cup is 2.25 inches tall and about 2.375 inches in diameter. The saucer is 0.75 inches tall and 4.5 inches in diameter. Italian Italy Untertasse Demitasse Espresso Mocha coffee.
