A superb cup and saucer made by Saint Cloud during the first quarter of the 18th century. It is made of a creamy colored soft paste with an under glaze blue decoration that is quite nice. Softpaste porcelain has a charm to it unlike any other porcelain and is a must have for any collector! The cup and saucer have a ribbed design to the paste in a section below the blue decoration and the saucer has a little rim around the center well to keep the cup from moving around much like a trembleuse saucer.
The set is in amazing condition with just a tiny chip to the top rim of the cup and two tiny one to the little rim around the well of the saucer as shown. Neither takes away from the piece and it displays perfectly and is just stunning! A few in the making flaws common to soft paste pieces of this period. Amazingly both pieces are marked which is not common at all. The cup is 2.5 inches tall and 2.75 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1 inch tall and 4.875 inches in diameter. If you like my goodies have a look at my other auctions for a lot more top maker pieces like Chantilly, Bow and so on. Photos are part of the description.
