A nice mid 18th century Meissen teabowl (aka Koppchen) cup and saucer dating to the 1740s. It is hand painted with their famous hand painted Tischchenmuster design (little table design / motif) in puce and under glaze blue with gold highlights which is rarer than the usual version in iron red, puce, blue, green, yellow and gold. The table is in under glaze blue with Indian style flowers all around and a nice design to the rim. The set is in great condition with a tiny bit of wear to the saucer where the cup would sit from age and to the very top inside edge of the bowl from use.
Each is marked underneath with the Meissen crossed swords marks as well as a blue painter's mark on the foot ring and an impressed number as shown. The tea bowl is a bit over 1.75 inches tall and has a diameter of 3.125 inches. The saucer is 1.125 inches tall and 5.25 inches in diameter. German Germany Untertasse 18th century.
