DESCRIPTION : Here is an 18th century Nyon porcelain coffee can and saucer decorated in the Sevres style. The coffee can hand painted to the upper part with a garland of pink and yellow roses with a trailing green leaf and red berry plant. The lower half hand painted with various colourful flowers including pink and yellow roses.
Each floral band is separated by two gilt lined blue bands with a stylised S type decoration. It has a gilt lined top rim. The coffee can has a square form handle that is gilt lined to each side with gilt triangular terminals. The top with gilt dash decoration, the back with a gilt pattern and the underside with a gilt tapered line / triangle. The saucer being in the same pattern having a hand painted floral well with a border of pink and yellow garlands with trailing green leaf and red berry plant again separated with gilt lined blue bands having stylised S decoration. Both coffee can and saucer are marked to the base with a blue painted fish and each having an impressed 84 which is probably their date of 1784. SIZE : The coffee can measures 2 1/2 inches high and 2 5/16 inches in diameter. The saucer measures 5 1/8 inches in diameter and 1 1/8 inches high. Weighs 255 g before packing. CONDITION : There is a small black dot imperfection inside the coffee can as in picture 7 which is in the making.
