18th Century Meissen Hand Painted Watteau Scenes Blue & Gold Cup & Saucer Nice antique porcelain cup and saucer. Decorated with hand painted Watteau scenes of a lady on one side of the cup and a man on the other framed in purple, yellow, green and blue scrollwork and small purple, orange, and yellow flowers. Has a blue fishscale border with gold scrollwork at the bottom.
The matching saucer has a Georgian Colonial man with a drum. Marked on the bottom with a blue underglaze crossed swords mark used by Meissen. Has some wear to the gilding, some wear consistent with age and use, and a chip to the edge of the saucer. The cup measures approximately 4 inches wide including the handle x 2 3/4 inches tall.
The saucer measures approximately 5 1/4 inches wide. This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not affect the display of the piece.
