Antique Flight Barr And Barr Porcelain Cup And Saucer With Dragonfly And Flowers
DESCRIPTION : Here is a large early 19th century Flight Barr & Barr porcelain pedestal London shaped cup and saucer. The cup hand painted in enamels with a colourful dragonfly, a larger bouquet of English flowers on one side and a puce flower sprig. Each side of the dragonfly is a flower to the right and a sprig of berries to the left. The cup has an ear shaped handle with gilt decoration. It has a shaped top rim with a gilt gadrooned outer top rim. The saucer also painted in enamels with a winged flying insect and various English flowers to include pink roses. It has a shaped gilt gadrooned outer rim. Both cup and saucer having an impressed crown over FBB. Dates between 1820 to 1828.
SIZE : The cup measures 5.9 cm to the top of the handle and 9.4 cm at widest point of the diameter. The saucer measures 15 cm in diameter. Weighs 228 g before packing.
CONDITION : The saucer has a small chip to the underside of the rim which does not affect the front. It has a small chip to the gilt gadrooned rim that has had a small touch up as in picture 6. There is some age related gilt ware and a few small touch ups around the gadrooned rim. The gilt inside rim of the cup has a 2.5 cm touch up and a few small touch ups. The gilt gadrooned outer rim of the cup also has age related ware and a few small touch ups around the rim. Otherwise in good condition having no other chips, crack or restoration. All the ware and touch ups are hardly noticeable with the naked eye.
