This rare and beautiful duo was produced around 1815, the time before Coalport added Felspar to their porcelain recipe. The duo is potted in fine porcelain, at a glance it could have been mistaken for the work by Swansea, the famous Welsh pottery. The shallow cup with elegant high loop handle is decorated with a deep blue ground on the outside. Both pieces has elaborated gilding and gilt cartouches containing sprays of enamelled flowers skilfully painted within. The inside of the cup is also beautifully decorated with gilded branches and ornate leaves on the rim and a larger bouquet of enamelled flower at the bottom.

I absolutely love the gilt design on both pieces as it is truly outstanding and would no doubt required a gilder with exceptional skills. The duo is in very good antique condition with no cracks, hairlines, repairs or crazing. Theres a firing line on the inside of the cup, this is something that happened during manufacturing and is very common for antique pieces from the 19th century when kilns were fired with coals as supposed to gas. The cup is also recorded in The Compendium of British Teacups. Any questions or if youd like more photos, please feel free to ask.
