An amazing teapot made by Sevres in the mid 19th century or to be more exact in 1850 and gilded in 1869. It is part of a three piece set including the sugar dish and creamer but since I don't have the matching cups I decided to list them separately. The tea pot is hand painted with their famous deep blue ground color which in this case is applied unevenly which looks stunning as some areas are this rich deep cobalt blue and other are much lighter in color! On top of that it has lots of nice gold trim some of which is raised - that combination is always stunning plus the piece has a nice shape to it.The teapot is in perfect condition which is nice especially since it is an older piece than most one comes across. I don't think it was eve used.
There are some impurities from when it was made on the bottom inside as shown. It is marked underneath as shown with the green Sevres S.
50 oval mark in green as well as the Dore a Sevres mark in red for 1869. It also has the usual painter's, gilder's and incised marks one would expect on an original piece from this period.
The pot is just over 5 inches tall, 9.375 inches from spout to handle and about 6.5 inches in diameter. One of the nicest pieces like it I have seen from this period. If you like my goodies have a look at my other auctions for a lot more top maker pieces like KPM , Chantilly and so on.
