Design features a deep cobalt blue underglaze outer border with gilt "leaf" pattern on white porcelain ground with "shanked" shape. The set is in excellent Estate condition with no surface scratches, chips, cracks or repairs.
The saucer measures 1/4" high and 5 1/2" in diameter and the cup is 2 1/2" high and 3 1/2" in diameter (outer cup edge to handle) with a top opening of 2 1/2. Coalport porcelain has always been highly acclaimed for the quality of the china as well as for their artistic designs.
John Rose began the Coalport Porcelain Company in England in the 18th Century and his early pieces (pre-1796) were never marked. These pieces are highly coveted and are difficult to find.
